Trump's Lawyer Denies Reports Mueller Subpoenaed Deutsche Bank Financial Records

Trump's Lawyer Denies Reports Mueller Subpoenaed Deutsche Bank Financial Records

Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his investigators subpoenaed Deutsche Bank for documents related to business with President Trump and members of his family. The Deutsche subpoenas were sent several weeks ago, according to the Bloomberg report.

Despite previous denials due to privacy issues, Deutsche Bank - which has made loans to the Trump Organization for millions of dollars - finally delivered the required information to the investigation, something that implies that the special lawyer has come to the heart of the matter. Law professor Ryan Goodman suggests that Mueller could be trying to determine if Trump's loans from the bank were guaranteed by Russian interests, which could mean he was indebted to them in ways that could compromise him.

Mr Mueller is looking into claims of Russian interference in the United States presidential election and potential collusion by Mr Trump's team - an allegation denied by the President and Russian authorities.

Mueller sought records from Deutsche Bank, a source familiar with the subpoena told ABC News.

Mueller filed charges against Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort and his business partner Rick Gates on October 30. Russian Federation has denied US intelligence agencies' conclusion that it meddled in the campaign and Trump has said there was no collusion with Moscow.
