Police Say Suspect & 2 Students Dead After Shooting At New Mexico School

Authorities say three people are dead following a shooting at a New Mexico high school on Thursday morning, the Associated Press reports. Authorities in New Mexico said on Twitter that the shooter was among the the deceased.

The New Mexico State Police said no other injuries were reported and that the school was evacuated.

Deputies are asking everyone to avoid the area as emergency crews work the scene. It wasn't immediately clear if the shooting happened inside the school, who was suspected of firing the shots and what condition the wounded were in. Parents are advised to please stay away from all of the schools until further notice.

The school is in the Four Corners region and is about a half-hour from the Navajo Nation. Federal agents and state police are investigating. Aztec, a community with fewer than 6,000 residents, is about 16 miles northeast of Farmington, N.M.
