New York Yankees hiring Aaron Boone as next manager

New York Yankees hiring Aaron Boone as next manager

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said earlier Friday that he will make his recommendation for manager to owner Hal Steinbrenner soon.

According to insiders it was down to the 44-year-old ESPN baseball analyst and San Francisco Giants bench coach Hensley Meulens, 63, for the big gig, even though neither had the experience at the helm of a MLB team. Girardi had been a major league coach and manager when he replaced Joe Torre a decade ago.

Boone, who played a full year in Billings in 1994, is just the second Mustang to become a major league manager. Steinbrenner had previously said he was reluctant to have a manager with no experience in the job.

He added, "Certainly the expectations now will be ramped up even more after such a successful season and when you look at the roster that we're going to potentially have out there".

Earthquake In Delaware, Tremors Experienced in Region
In Baltimore, the jolt was strong enough to send some people streaming out of buildings and into the streets. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Philadelphia or NY , the cities tweeted.

The pennant winners from the past two seasons - the Houston Astros, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians - are among the teams that lean heavily on this dynamic.

The New York Daily News was first to report Boone's hiring. "But I would also say in a way, I've been preparing for this job for my entire life". "Especially the last few years, I find myself managing games all the time and thinking about strategies and how I would handle different situations". He grew up in a baseball family.

Boone's grandfather, Ray, father, Bob, and brother, Bret, all played in the Majors, and his father managed the Reds (1995-97) and Royals (2001-03).

Of course, Red Sox fans remember Boone for his iconic walk-off homer to send the Yankees to the World Series in 2003. He injured his left knee while playing basketball during the following offseason, setting off a sequence of events that led to the Yankees' February 2004 trade for Alex Rodriguez.

And that wish for a Merry Christmas, was proclaimed loud and proud, all the way down to this year's official Christmas cards. Trump, who personally selected the decor, says she wanted to make the White House feel like home over the holidays.

Boone, 44, has no managerial or coaching experience since retiring as a player after the 2009 season. He said Cashman contacted him about succeeding Girardi, whose contract was not renewed despite the Yankees' surprising surge to the ALCS.

As the new Yankees manager, Boone is committed to the 2017 version of a manager who embraces analytics and sees his office as "an extension of the front office".

Fortunately, Beltran's baseball mind could still be with the Yankees in some capacity next year. The average age of his last three teams has been a little over 27. That's a good thing, because Aaron Boone doesn't have any.

Boone was the fourth of the candidates to interview with the Yankees, going through about six hours of conversations at Yankee Stadium on November 17.
