Missing Florida teen found with soccer coach in Syracuse

The sheriff's office said Caitlyn Frisina was found safe in NY. Her family has been notified.

During the family's statement, the girl held her father, Rodd Frisina, closely and nestled under his chin, eyes closed.

Caitlyn Frisina, 17, has been missing since Sunday.

Her former soccer coach Rian Rodriguez, 27, is now in jail on a charge of interference with a child's custody.

According to WJAX, Frisina and Rodriguez were located Friday in North Syracuse, New York. One of Caitlyn's friends told Frisina that her daughter had "hooked up" with Rodriguez and he worked his way into her life.

Sometime after 4 p.m. Friday, a NY state police officer spotted a red Mercury with a Florida license plate in north Syracuse near Taft Road and Route 11. The teen's phone - which had been completely erased - was left behind, authorities said.

Frisina took $200 out of an ATM in St. Marys, Georgia, on Sunday morning, and was later that day seen with Rodriguez on surveillance video at a Pilot gas station in St. George, Georgia, Sheriff Mark Hunter said Wednesday. Rodriguez was a coach for the boys' soccer team at Fort White High School in Fort White, Fla.

Local authorities, aided by agencies including the U.S. Marshal Service, began searching for the pair and the 2001 Mercury Sable in which they were believed to have been traveling. "More to follow as details come in", the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said in a tweet on Friday night.

Authorities did not disclose any information about Rodriguez or his whereabouts.
