Gale Warning For Irish Coastal Waters Ahead Of Storm Caroline's Passage

A yellow snow and ice warning is in place for Friday for Scotland, Northern Ireland, western England and Wales.

A North Sea platform shut down production due to safety fears over weather conditions caused by Storm Caroline.

Severe gales and snow showers have caused travel disruption, school closures and power cuts as Storm Caroline sweeps in to the UK.

A spokesman for the Met Office said about the prospects for the region: "There will be sharp frosts forming during the nights and it will get increasingly cloudy on Sunday with rain and possible snow in the north".
