Donald Trump changes story on reasons for firing Michael Flynn

Some viewed Trump's comment as a straight-up "confession" to committing the crime of obstruction due to his apparent knowledge - at the time - that Flynn had not only lied to Vice President Mike Pence - but also to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Court filings say that a "senior" official in Trump's post-election transition team told him to contact officials from other governments, including Russian Federation, meaning that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's office will be looking at high-level aides and perhaps the president himself.

California Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu also reacted to Trump's tweet.

Lying to the FBI is a crime, and one that Flynn acknowledged on Friday in pleading guilty and agreeing to co-operate with the special counsel's Russian Federation investigation. At this point, the only person who knows whether Brian Ross's report is accurate is Michael Flynn. He is a good guy.

Jeremy Piven Thanks 'Wisdom of the Crowd' Fans After CBS Cancels Show
Entertainment Weekly reports the network decided not to order an additional "back" nine episodes to make it a full season. Jeremy Piven's CBS drama Wisdom of the Crowd will be canceled after 13 episodes, sources confirm.

A day after Flynn resigned on February 13, Trump approached former FBI director James Comey and asked him to drop the federal investigation into Flynn, Comey testified before Congress. A review of the texts is now underway to determine whether the two agents allowed political bias to influence their work, but regardless of what that investigation concludes, the story is sure to provide ammunition for those, like President Trump and his defenders, who have accused the Mueller investigation, FBI, and overall intelligence community of being driven by partisanship.

So far, four people have been charged as a result of Mueller's investigation. Afterward, Comey said that Trump had asked him to drop the investigation into Flynn. Three times, Trump told reporters it's been shown that there's "no collusion". At a news conference just days after Flynn was let go, Trump said he ousted him because of "what he said to Mike Pence".

"No I'm not", Trump said in his first public remarks on the plea deal. At about 2 a.m., Mr. Strzok wrote an email to Mr. Comey and scheduled it to send at 6 a.m.

Flynn is cooperating with Mueller's team, according to court papers.

I said to myself, I said, 'You know, this Russian Federation thing with Trump and Russian Federation is a made-up story.

To his credit, Special Counsel Robert Mueller, whose investigation has already cost taxpayers over $5 million, shuffled Strzok off to the Siberian bowels of the FBI's human resources department.

The Justice Department's inspector general has been looking into Strzok's actions and indicated in a statement today that the review is part of broader investigations announced in January of how the FBI and Justice Department handled matters associated with the 2016 presidential election. Trump fired Comey on May 9.
