Alex Hales available for England selection after avoiding police charge

The ECB Cricket Disciplinary Committee will only discuss the actions of both players when news of Stokes's charge comes through.

Alex Hales will not be charged by police for his involvement in a nightclub brawl, meaning that he is now available for England selection. Doing anything else would have risked potentially prejudicing the outcome of the ongoing police investigation.

And, in turn, Brady will do the same as he looks to separate himself from Favre in the record books. The New England Patriots were supposed to waltz into Buffalo and blow out the Bills on Sunday.

Absent from England's Ashes series against Australia while police investigate the circumstances surrounding his arrest on September 25 in Bristol, all-rounder Stokes struggled with the bat and ball on Sunday. He is now playing for Canterbury in New Zealand, but he remains suspended from national duty.

"The ECB Board has convened via conference call to make the decision after being informed that Hales is deemed a witness and will face no charges", the ECB said in a statement.

The sight of Stokes boarding a plane Down Under last week led to murmurings that he was on his way to Australia with a view to being fast-tracked into the England side for the third Test in Perth.
