YouTube App Causing Battery Drain On iOS 11

Apple's iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are about to get a little bit quicker about it, though, with the release of iOS 11.2. However, while convenient, it did have some drawbacks compared to plugging in an old-fashioned Lighting cable. Apple promised faster charging sometime in the future which many took to mean after the launch of the AirPower Mat in 2018.

While 7.5 watts is still half the wireless charging speed supported by Qi 1.2, it should be a noticeable improvement for users.

It looks like there is a problem with Google's YouTube app on Apple's iOS 11. According to a new report, the iOS 11.2 update will help the latest iPhone devices to charge at 7.5 watts when placed on a compatible Qi-based wireless charging pad.

The report claimed that when tested using a Belkin charger (sold separately by Apple), which provides 7.5 W of power, the iPhone X charged from 46 to 66 percent in under 30 minutes. Minimal display bezels, OLED display panels and wireless charging have all been in the Android domain for a few generations (or more).

The institutional investor owned 151,295 shares of the company's stock after selling 7,749 shares during the quarter. The firm had revenue of C$1.56 billion during the quarter, compared to the consensus estimate of C$1.82 billion.

It should be noted, however, that although 7.5W speeds are much appreciated, the iPhone X and its siblings are still behind - far behind - rivals when it comes to wireless charging capabilities.

iOS 11.2 is in public beta right now, and usually a full release isn't far behind. That requires a compatible smartphone, of course, and not all charging pads are compliant with that maximum rate.
