UCLA hires Chip Kelly

UCLA hires Chip Kelly

Kelly agreed to a five-year contract worth $23.3M with a $9M reciprocal buyout.

Kelly found very little success in the National Football League with stints as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers.

Kelly has not coached on the collegiate level since 2012, when he led the University of OR to a 12-1 record and an appearance in the Fiesta Bowl, where it defeated Kansas State by a score of 35-17.

Tennessee dismisses star receiver after expletive-filled tirade
Hoke, who had served as a defensive line coach on Jones' staff, is Tennessee's interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Jennings went on a profanity-laced rant on his Instagram account Wednesday afternoon from his auto leaving practice.

In the end, Kelly chose to join the UCLA football program to replace Jim Mora, leaving interest from Florida on the table in the process. Once that news broke, Kelly landing at UCLA appeared a near certainty.

The Gators had kept their options open while pursuing Kelly, and are expected to shift their focus to Scott Frost, who, in his second season with UCF, has guided the Knights to an undefeated season ahead of their matchup against South Florida on Friday.

Chip Kelly's fast-paced offense won't be seen in the Southeastern Conference next season after all.

Chip Kelly was a hot commodity on the coaching market and with good reason. He finished his career there with a 46-7 record.

Kelly, 54, is coming off a failed one-year stint as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers and after three years with the Eagles.

Kelly spent the 2017 season as a college football analyst with ESPN and is considered one of the most sought-after coaches in the country. The former Oregon Ducks coach now is an analyst with ESPN.
