Legendary pitcher dies in plane crash

Former Phillies star pitcher Roy Halladay died in a plane crash in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday.

The United States Coast Guard, the Pasco Fire Department and the Pasco Sheriff's Office all responded to the scene after a call came in after noon. No survivors were found.

Police said they couldn't confirm if there were additional passengers on the plane or say where it was headed. The eight-time All-Star won the Cy Young in both leagues, taking it in 2003 for the Blue Jays and 2010 for the Phillies. He was one of just six pitchers to win the Cy Young Award in both leagues. Roy tweeted frequently about his love for flying. One of his many career highlights includes pitching the 20th ideal game in Major League Baseball history in 2010 during the regular season, and then in a division round matchup with Cincinnati, he threw the second no-hitter in postseason history.
