Jude Law Lands 'Captain Marvel' Male Lead Role

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jude Law is in talks to join Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson. In his secret identity "Walter Lawson", Mar-Vell befriended Carol Danvers, and he was present during the accident that transformed her. The film will co-star Ben Mendelsohn as the villain.

Carol Danvers was a member of the United States Air Force until an explosion at her air base combined her DNA with that of the alien race, the Kree, giving her super strength, flight and energy absorption.

It was first revealed at San Diego Comic Con that "Captain Marvel" will take place in the early 1990's with Samuel L. Jackson also expected to make an appearance as a younger Nick Fury long before the Avengers were ever a team. We don't know who he's playing yet or anything (though Variety says he'll be a "mentor of sorts" who helps Carol work through her newly-established powers), but let's set that aside for a moment to acknowledge how truly excellent this film's cast is gonna be.
