Fox held talks to sell most of company to Disney

Meaning that, just because the deal is taking a dirt nap today, does not mean that it won't be resurrected tomorrow.

Rupert Murdoch's Twenty-First Century Fox has held talks to sell most of its film and television assets to Walt Disney Co, which would gain new programming and expand its global reach, CNBC reported on Monday. While some have already begun speculating about this potentially exciting news, sources close to Fox have said that the company wishes to move forward while focusing its efforts on the news and sports arenas of the entertainment world. While Disney's cable networks tend to be geared toward younger viewers, Fox's FX family of networks target an adult audience. It is possible Disney and 21st Century Fox could reopen discussions about some kind of acquisition, but there's reportedly nothing final in the pipeline yet. As the report suggests, "Fox is said to believe that a more tightly focused group of properties around news and sports could compete more effectively".
