GameStop introduces pre-owned PowerPass rental service

GameStop introduces pre-owned PowerPass rental service

In effect, this partially puts GameStop in direct competition with RedBox, which already enjoys a bit of an edge in the game rental business with its widely dispersed units. Keep in mind, however, that only GameStop PowerUp Rewards members can subscribe to this service.

The program is available only to PowerUp Rewards members (so that the game they've got can be tracked), and you can only choose from games on the shelf in a physical store, not from the company's online catalogue.

Working in a different way to previous physical game rental schemes, it costs $60 for a six-month subscription, during which time you can rent any of GameStop's pre-owned library.

Deposed Catalan leader urges 'democratic opposition' to Madrid takeover
There were pro-unity demonstrations too, with protesters in Barcelona waving Spanish flags and denouncing Catalan independence. What powers did Catalonia have? Behind him there were the Catalan and European Union flags, but not the one from Spain .

The new service is called PowerPass. The only slight caveat is that you're restricted to renting one at a time. You decide how long you keep a game, but you can only rent one at any time.

GameStop, the video game store that has fallen from grace in the era of digital downloads, will start offering a subscription rental program, according to Mashable. Otherwise, any pre-owned title can be checked out.

Moreover, players can keep the last one they take. It also earns you points for every accessory, game or console purchase you make. The basic, free membership should be adequate for taking advantage of Power Pass, but you can get extra benefits for either $14.99 or $29.99 per year. It's the upgraded loyalty program that earns you bonus points and a subscription to Game Informer magazine.

Does this sound like the best way to play more games?

This move of GameStop is an interesting offer to lure more gamers to their stores.
