Black Man Beaten During Charlottesville Rally Charged With Felony

A group of six men violently beat DeAndre Harris, a counterprotester, in a parking garage next to the Charlottesville Police Department on August 12 after a white nationalist rally was dispersed by police.

A young African-American man, DeAndre Shakur Harris-a school teacher-got stomped by a gang of white supremacists in a parking garage during the Nazi Rally in Charlottesville.

A magistrate, not the police department, issued the warrant, although a news release said police officers had verified other video that led to the arrest.

The beating, which was captured on camera and quickly spiraled across the internet, occurred after a white supremacist tried to spear a counter-protester with a flag pole, the Washington Post reported in August. Harris is accused of attacking another man first, and is wanted on charges of unlawful wounding. A detective went to the magistrate and confirmed the victim's claims.

"Harris' attorney, Lee Merritt, said that the charge was" clearly retaliatory".

Images of the brawl and Harris's bloodied face went viral, prompting a frenzied campaign on social media to identify his attackers.

According to reports, it is odd for a warrant to be rendered by magistrates instead of the police themselves.

At a hearing for Ramos in September, Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Nina Antony said Harris ran into the Market Street garage after a scuffle with white supremacists and was beaten by at least five people.

Merritt added that the warrant is "highly unusual", saying that they are typically issued by the police department instead a magistrate.

The Raiders won't put too much on Manuel, who will be asked to manage and lead the offense without carrying it. This is the third straight meeting between these two teams, with the Raiders winners of the last two matchups.

Harris has said the attack left him with a concussion, a gash on his head that required almost a dozen staples, and other injuries. He also said he had cuts across his eyebrow, a chipped tooth and abrasions on his knees and elbows. Harris will turn himself in in the next coming days, Merritt said. Ramos even stated, "There were some non-racist members who were going to a free speech rally".
