The Oval evacuated over 'crossbow bolt' in ground

Enquiries into a crossbow bolt landing on the Oval field during Surrey's County Championship clash with Middlesex remain ongoing, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.

The incident happened during a match at The Oval ground in London.

Shortly before 4.30pm, when play stopped because of the arrow falling on the square, Middlesex were 214-7, though the match has now been abandoned.

The umpires immediately took the players from the field, while all spectators at the ground were urged to take cover.

On his first series, he threw an interception that was run back for a touchdown by Texas Longhorns Cornerback Holton Hill . One thing you can say about a game like this from Texas is you have a laundry list of items you now know can be addressed.

One of the commentators originally believed it was a meteor, ABC reported.

It's unknown where the arrow was sacked from, but police believe it came from outside the ground.

"No arrests. We retain an open mind as to motive".

Met Police said the incident "is not being treated as terrorism-related".

"It is pure speculation where it came from because it is a very dense area around the ground", Surrey chief executive Richard Gould said. We will review our security arrangements but threats can be so wide-ranging.

"We don't know much more at the moment". I did archery as a kid and that was not a normal archery arrow.

There were no questions asked - we went off very quickly. A meteor? What is that on the field of play its poking up out the ground?
