Reports Of Active Shooter At New Hampshire's Biggest Hospital

The Lebanon Police Department is asking people to avoid the area while roads around the hospital have been closed.

New Hampshire's Dartmouth-Hitchcock hospital was locked down on Tuesday following reports of an active shooter at the medical facility, a spokesman said in an emailed message.

The city's official website posted that a person was in custody who was believed to be involved in the shooting reports.

The incident occurred at 1.27pm when an "active shooter" call was placed to authorities, according to local reports.

In an email alert to staff earlier Tuesday afternoon, Dartmouth-Hitchcock said an active shooter was likely still in the medical center, "but is contained".

Police in Lebanon, New Hampshire are investigating an incident at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital. Special agents from ATF's Boston office and representatives of the New Hampshire attorney general's office, including state police, are also responding to the scene.

The name of the suspect wasn't immediately released by officials and the victim's condition is now unknown. There has been no official confirmation that shots were actually fired.

The hospital issued a "code silver" alert to employees, which alerts the possibility of somebody being violent with a weapon.
