Protests and Police Conflict Expected at THAAD Deployment

Yesterday the South's military launched a volley of ballistic missiles simulating an attack on the North's nuclear test site.

The missile defense system will be deployed already tomorrow on a new basis in Seongju 300 kilometers from Seoul together with the construction technique and all related materials.

Trump's statement came after North Korea on Sunday detonated what it described as a hydrogen bomb designed for a long-range missile, sparking global alarm with what was by far its most powerful test to date.

Illustrating the country's hardening sentiment, South Korea says the US military will begin adding more launchers to a contentious high-tech USA missile defense system in South Korea on Thursday. The protesters said the deployment will begin at 2 a.m. Thursday, but the Defense Ministry refused to confirm the time.

The ministry noted that six launchers will give the USA a full THAAD battery, meaning it will have a much better chance of detecting and shooting down missiles from the North. With the four additional launchers installed, U.S. Forces Korea will have a fully operational THAAD battery at its base in Seongju.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for talks with North Korea, saying sanctions are not a solution.

Sinn Fein's leader in Northern Ireland, Michelle O'Neill, earlier on Thursday said her party was "entirely committed" to making the political institutions work.

Speaking after the talks with the visiting South Korean president, Putin in televised remarks urged North Korea's neighbors to support the Russian-Chinese roadmap.

The deployment comes amid heightened tensions on the Korean Peninsula over North Korea's missile and nuclear tests.

The deployment of THAAD is of great concern to China.

Trump says he'll revisit DACA in 6 months if Congress doesn't act
Kimelman expressed the College Republicans' hope to promote legislation to transition out of DACA in the wake of its rescindment. The Trump administration's anticipated move toward ending DACA received swift backlash, including from Obama himself.

"Without political and diplomatic tools, it is very hard to shift the situation" on the Korean peninsula, Putin said. He said it "offers a genuine way to defuse the tensions and a step-by-step settlement".
