Pablo Carreno Busta vs Kevin Anderson: US Open Semifinal preview and prediction

Late bloomer Pablo Carreno Busta believes that breaking through to a first Grand Slam semi-final at the US Open merits as much attention as the heat generated by compatriot Rafael Nadal.

28th seed Anderson beat the Spanish 12th seed 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4.

He is the first South African in over 50-years to make it to the final of the US Open.

The victor of the match would meet either 15-time Grand Slam victor Rafael Nadal of Spain or 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina in Sunday's final. "This means the world to me", said Anderson, whose career was at a crossroads in January when hip problems forced him out of the Australian Open and his ranking slumped to 80.

The 12th-seeded Carreno Busta was also in his first major semifinal and hadn't dropped a set in reaching it.

Maxim Choupo-Moting stops Manchester United motoring and earns Stoke a point
In the middle of the box, the exceptionally named Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting stole ahead of a dozing Bailly to put Stoke ahead. Swiss ace, Xherdan Shaqiri , drew a pair of smart saves from David de Gea before late drama ensued at the end of the half.

Schartzman, at 5ft 7in (1.70m), was the shortest Slam quarter-finalist since same-height Peruvian Jaime Yzaga at the 1994 US Open.

The third continued the trend of Carreno Busta having to work hard on serve, as evidenced by him coming from 0-40 down to hold in his first service game of the set.

In the first of three posts, Williams wrote: "There are NO words to describe how proud and how happy I am for @Madison_Keys. and @SloaneStephens for making the USA open finals". He reached the final in Washington and made the quarterfinals in Montreal, losing to Alexander Zverev at both tournaments. That said, fatigue could be a factor for Anderson after his last match against Querrey.

Anderson climbed into the box to celebrate with his family and team after clinching match point.

In the final set Carreno Busta battled hard, producing some incredible shots as the game went deep, but he was unable to prevent Anderson from reaching the final.

Trump, Turnbull talk North Korea, floods
Sunday's test of what North Korea said was an advanced hydrogen bomb was its largest by far. Fischer concluded: "We are witnessing one of the toughest farm economies since the 1980s".

The South African had the flawless start to the third set especially when he strolled to a comfortable service hold before earning a 0-40 lead on the return.

It's the furthest either man has ever gone in a Grand Slam tournament.

Starting the fourth set serving, it was a bright start for Carreno Busta as he looked to have regained his composure and found the momentum.

Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin del Potro will meet in one U.S. Open men's semifinal.

The 2.03-metre tall South African climbed into his player's box to embrace his wife, brother and coach Neville Godwin after Carreno Busta's forehand found the net to finish the almost three-hour contest.

Nikki Haley Says Trump Has Grounds to Leave Iran Deal
A senior U.S. official has said that the Trump administration is keeping a close watch on the two countries and is ready to act if and when necessary.

Now he has a chance to claim a Slam trophy on the same Arthur Ashe Stadium court where boyhood idol Pete Sampras captured the last of his 14 major crowns in 2002.
