NHC on Irma: 'Too soon to specify timing and magnitude of impact'

Dangerous Hurricane Irma is continuing its steady procession that would take it north of Puerto Rico and Hispanolia, drawing a bead on the Florida Keys.

Irma was maintaining category five strength with sustained winds near 185mph (295kph), the US National Hurricane Centre said. "Hurricane Irma's impacts on the USA mainland may start to be felt at the end of the week, but it is not too early to start to make preparations".

The county's 6,000 employees are all considered essential employees and there is no plan to have them stop working before the end of the work week, Baker said, adding that she has no authority to direct other employers to let their workers leave early so that they can begin evacuating in advance of a potential landfall. The Washington Post reports that the storm's now barrelling away with 186 miles per hour sustained winds and adds that the National Hurricane Center believes that Atlantic conditions are "ideal for some additional intensification".

Most models have Hurricane Irma heading toward Florida or up the East Coast, but New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu isn't taking any chances. It is tied for second most intense with Hurricane Wilma in 2005, Hurricane Gilbert in 1988 and the 1935 Florida Keys hurricane.

Life Without Su'a Cravens on Redskins
One person who played with Cravens in the past and considers him a friend said he was not surprised when he heard the news Sunday. I'm not in those shoes, so I can't speak on him, so whatever he's dealing with I'm praying for him and hopefully he'll be back".

Tropical Update on Hurricane Irma: As of 5pm on Tuesday, Hurricane Irma has strengthened even more, with sustained winds of 185 miles per hour, making it an extremely unsafe Category 5 storm and one of strongest hurricanes ever in the Atlantic! However, if Irma runs up Florida's peninsula or sneaks into the Gulf of Mexico, less severe impacts would be likely for southeastern North Carolina. This storm is also predicted to intensify into a hurricane over the coming days, but the latest track forecast keeps it away from land areas for the most part.
