The shilling, Kenyan shares and dollar bonds plunged on Friday after the court backed a petition brought by opposition leader Raila Odinga and declared President Uhuru Kenyatta's election victory invalid.

Kenyatta has committed to campaigning hard to win the new election while Odinga has called for IEBC personnel to be replaced - and prosecuted - in light of the court ruling.

Entry by Raila Odinga, the supreme Court had struck down on Friday the election of 8 August, which had given a victor Uhuru Kenyatta, saying that she had "not been conducted in accordance with the Constitution", and that of "illegalities and irregularities (had) affected the integrity" of the ballot.
