Data leak exposed millions of Time Warner Cable customers

In a blog, Kromtech said the data it had found was about users of Time Warner Cable's MyTWC app, which lets customers manage their account via a smartphone or tablet.

It came across two Amazon servers linked to global communications company BroadSoft, a TWC partner, the report said.

The TWC record information was not unique for all details exposed, instances of duplicate information, were also seen, meaning the breach ultimately exposed less than four million customers.

"We see more and more examples of how bad actors use leaked or hacked data for a range of crimes or other unethical purposes."

There are some databases that had phone numbers, billing addresses and additional contact info for hundreds of thousands of TWC subscribers.

Florida will look to rely on their top ranked defense to keep them in the game and create short field scoring opportunities. In fact, in the 10 seasons from '07 to '16, the Gators finished with fewer than 200 yards of offense only six times .

The repositories also included internal company records, including SQL database dumps, internal emails and code containing the credentials for accessing external systems and access logs.

On August 24, the Kromtech Security Center had its employees research a data breach at World Wrestling Entertainment.

"The problem is that the repository was configured to allow public access and exposed extremely sensitive data in the process".

A spokesperson for BroadSoft said the company had verified that customer data was exposed to the public internet, but it does not believe the information to be "highly sensitive".

One text file that dated back to November 2010 contained more than 4 million records which detailed subscribers' usernames, email addresses, Mac addresses, device serial numbers and financial transaction data. Both BroadSoft and Charter say they're investigating and will take extra steps to address the situation if necessary.

Diego Schwartzman upsets Marin Cilic to reach US Open round of 16
American John Isner, the 10th seed, will face No. 23 Mischa Zverev on Friday night at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Venus Williams made short work of her third-round opponent and is into the Round of 16 at the U.S.

Charter Communications, which purchased Time Warner Cable renaming it Spectrum, acknowledged last Friday that it discovered a data breach that made the private information of some of its customers available to outsiders.

The information exposed appears to be related to TWC customers that had used the MyTWC app, which was developed by BroadSoft.

It appears as though numerous customers who are affected were also using the Time Warner Cable smartphone app.

In a statement, Broadsoft said no bank, credit card or other personal data about end users was exposed in the breach. "We apologize for the frustration and anxiety this causes, and will communicate directly to customers if their information was involved in this incident".
