Microsoft Loses Consumer Reports Recommendation on 4 Laptops

Consumer Reports is withdrawing its recommendation for four Microsoft laptops and tablets after a survey showed that a quarter of them pose problems for their owners after only two years. Anyone who has been following the Surface brand for a few years will know that Skylake chips in the last generation hardware created quite a few headaches for Microsoft which likely had an impact on the survey conducted by Consumer Reports.

"Microsoft's real-world return and support rates for past models differ significantly from Consumer Reports' breakage predictability". Since Microsoft is somewhat new to hardware, this is the first year Consumer Reports has been able to measure reliability among Microsoft laptops. As you might imagine, Microsoft is already responding against these findings, stating that the company does not believe that the study "accurately reflects Surface owners' true experiences".

It also claims that the raids were launched against sites belonging to the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas. A medical official at Shifa hospital in Gaza City were being treated for shrapnel wounds from the explosion.

Consumer Reports points to reported problems with touchscreen, issues at startup, and problem with freezing and random shutdowns.

Jay Cutler Didn't Come to Dolphins to Stand on Sideline: Gase
Imagine how pleased Cutler is to have passed on the Jets and the Texans and whoever else might have checked on his interest level. Gase was offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears when Cutler had a career-best quarterback rating with them in 2015.

Consumer Reports said that responses to its annual survey revealed that consumers weren't pleased with their Microsoft products during the lifetime of ownership.

This week, however, the magazine changed its mind, pulling its recommendation for the Microsoft Surface Laptop (128 GB and 256 GB versions) and the Microsoft Surface Book (128 GB and 512 GB versions). Apple Inc had the most reliable devices, Beilinson said. Since then, the company has released a series of new Surface tablets and laptops, including the well-reviewed Surface Pro, which launched in May. CR isn't referring to its own tests or evaluations, but its user surveys and reported reliability data from its own customers, gathered in the same fashion as the data the company collects on every other laptop manufacturer. The series is best known for its hybrid tablet PCs, which feature a large tablet-like display that can be anchored to an optional keyboard for additional versatility. The study is also used to determine the reliability of products like refrigerators, lawn mowers, televisions and more. Of course, the nature of consumer tech is that something will probably go wrong for a subset of devices over the course of their typical use.
