Two Bounty Hunters And Fugitive Killed In Shootout At Texas Car Dealership

Two bounty hunters, along with the fugitive they had found, died during a shootout Tuesday at a Greenville, Texas, vehicle dealership, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Police said Gabriel Bernal and Fidel Garcia went there to apprehend Ramon Hutchinson.

Ford is CEO of the RFJ Auto Partners dealership group, which owns 20 dealerships in the southern tier of the well as some locations near Washington and Montana.

"I've been hiding in the bathroom", one caller says, according to the Dallas Morning News. Jarod Buck, an employee of the Bulldog Transmission shop, told the Herald-Banner Hutchinson was a regular customer. That's when Hutchinson tries to draw a pistol, but drops it.

As the bounty hunters attempted to handcuff Hutchinson, he reached for his gun.

Garcia sat on the board of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators.

"Today, our dealership was the scene of a tragic and unfortunate confrontation", said Rick Ford, who is president and CEO of RFJ Auto Partners.

Woods' speech was "extremely slow and slurred, mumbled [and] confused" and he was "extremely sleepy", according to the report. Police also released photos of his vehicle that showed both tires flat with minor damage around the bumpers.

The investigators were hired by a company called U.S. Fugitive Apprehension of Minnesota.

The bounty hunters started shooting as well, and Lucas said approximately 20 shots were fired in six seconds as customers and employees fled for cover. In most bounty-hunting cases, the fugitive hasn't been tried for his or her crime but failed to appear in court or pay the bail bond company.

Bernal, Garcia, and Hutchinson all suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the incident and died at the scene. The first two men represented themselves as federal agents but may have been bounty hunters.

"Mr. Garcia felt the defendant would ultimately appear at that dealership", Peters told the AP. They said they were waiting for someone they were planning to arrest. "That pursuit of justice ended tragically last night ... he will never be forgotten as a hero", Peters said.
