Philando Castile death: Police footage released

WARNING: The video below contains graphic content.

The police dashcam video of the fatal police shooting of Philando Castile has been released after St. Anthony, Minn. police officer Jeronimo Yanez was acquitted of second-degree manslaughter.

The shooting on July 6 past year, in the Minneapolis suburb of Falcon Heights, gained widespread attention because Mr Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, live-streamed its gruesome aftermath on Facebook.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Ramsey County Attorney's Office released the video Tuesday, just four days after Yanez was found not guilty on all counts connected to the shooting.

"You'll also see the officer physically tried to restraint the driver, which is not a fact that's been mentioned much, and reaches in with his left arm to push Mr. Castile's hand away from the gun", Kelly said.

"Sir, I have to tell you that I do have a firearm on me", Castile said 30 seconds after they began speaking.

The trial of Minnesota Police Officer Jeronimo Yanez ended last week with his acquittal in the death of motorist Philando Castile.

On Friday, Yanez, 29, was found not guilty of one count of second-degree manslaughter and two counts of unsafe discharge of a firearm after five days of jury deliberation.

Prosecutors would later say that Yanez had thought Castile resembled a suspect in a nearby armed robbery a few days earlier. Yanez says he told Castile not to reach for the gun and that Castile's "grip [was] a lot wider than a wallet".

Gray called the incident a tragedy for both the Yanez and Castile families and added that people who are outraged by the video have a right to their opinion. Yanez yells again, drawing his gun, reaching through the driver-side window and opening fire.

LaVar Ball guarantees Lonzo will take Lakers to playoffs as rookie
No, he's probably not better than Stephen Curry just yet, but Lonzo Ball definitely has the skills to excel at the next level. All kinds of players are coming out of this draft, but a do-it-all point guard like Fultz is hard to come by.

Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, livestreamed the aftermath of the shooting on Facebook.

Castile assures Yanez that he isn't pulling it out before Yanez shoots into the vehicle seven times.

More officers arrive shortly after and pull Castile out of the vehicle and onto the pavement. Yanez can be heard talking to other officers, who are asking him questions.

Jurors who ultimately acquitted Yanez of all charges he faced in the case watched the video, which picked up audio from Yanez' uniform, multiple times throughout the trial.
