Mother's hot auto lesson ends in kids' deaths

WEATHERFORD, Texas (AP) - Texas authorities say a 24-year-old woman has been charged in the deaths of her two children who were found inside a hot vehicle last month outside the family's home.

Authorities in North Texas have arrested a 25-year-old woman for the deaths a month ago of her two children found in a hot auto outside their home. When the 2-year-old refused to exit the auto, Randolph said she shut the vehicle door to teach her daughter a "lesson", thinking "she could get herself and her brother out of the vehicle when ready".

According to the Parker County Sheriff's Office, when asked how long the children might have been exposed to the high temperatures inside the vehicle, Randolph responded immediately: "No more than an hour".

Cynthia Marie Randolph, 25, faces charges of first-degree felony counts of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury, according to Parker County Sheriff's investigators.

Authorities also claim that Randolph admits to leaving her children behind in the auto, while she smoked marijuana and passed out for a few hours.

When she woke, she went to check on the children and found them unresponsive.

Firing Mueller would be a stupid, reckless act even for Trump

Those children died last month.

But Randolph later admitted to authorities that she left the kids in the auto. She was booked into the Parker County Jail. She thought the child could get herself and her brother out of the auto when they were ready, according to the Dallas Morning News. It wasn't clear if she had an attorney - online jail records didn't list one for her - and she doesn't have a listed phone number. Heatstroke begins when the body temperature reaches 104 degrees. The children were pronounced dead at 4:33 p.m. Of those, three have been in North Texas, including the two Friday in Parker County.

"Stop your s-t", Randolph said she told her 2-year-old daughter, according to police.
