Parties battle for control of Montana's only US House seat

Strategists in both parties say President Trump's dismal national standing isn't the driving factor in the Montana race.

Trump won the Big Sky State last fall by 20 percentage points, and Democrats haven't managed to snag the state's lone House seat in nearly 20 years. The polls close at 8 p.m. Jon Tester, D-Mont. -while the suburban Atlanta district is generally more Republican across the board.

Republicans are thankful colleges are out for the summer.

The race to replace Tom Price, now secretary of health and human services, gained national attention after breaking the record for most expensive House race in us history. "Gianforte doesn't represent me at all".

Montana doesn't have a singular partisan identity.

Quist, who has a chance to win in a state that President Donald Trump won by 20 percentage points in November, is one of several candidates receiving help from UCLA students. Six months ago, he earned almost 47 percent of the vote, losing to Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock. Next month's special election in the affluent suburban district near Atlanta, which Trump won by only one point, will be more indicative of the political mood, Democrats suggest.

He underperformed the president.

Republicans are still angry Gianforte blew an easily winnable race for governor last fall, and say the wealthy outsider is a bad fit for blue-collar, populist Montana. And the early attacks on Gianforte weren't much different from last year's.

Rebel Wilson Suing Australian Publisher for Defamation
The trial before Justice John Dixon is expected to run for three weeks. Wilson is set to take the stand herself later in the hearing. Bauer denies the articles were defamatory.

"The people of Montana are going to be happy. So get to the polls and vote for Greg".

Republican Greg Gianforte, Democrat Rob Quist, and Libertarian Mark Wicks are competing to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Quist, on the other hand, began this race largely unknown outside of his musical career in the Mission Mountain Wood Band.

The Republican National Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee have combined for more than $3.1 million. The race is Quist's first foray into politics, but the native Montanan has decades of name recognition from years of performing his folksy tunes around the state.

Wilson said the late flurry of the spending on advertising and even appearances by surrogates like Vermont Sen.

Democrats have tried to spin Quist's financial struggles, arguing that those tough times have allowed him to better understand the lives of everyday Montanans.

President Donald Trump is weighing in on the Montana special election this week with a robocall in support of Republican candidate Greg Gianforte.

Instead, Quist has kept up the pressure on health care, using it to try to reinforce the image of Gianforte as a self-serving rich guy.

Monaco Have Rejected An Astronomical Real Madrid Bid For Kylian Mbappe
Mbappe scored 15 goals in 29 Ligue 1 appearances to help Monaco win their first league title in 17 years this season. Kylian Mbappe was in impressive form for Monaco this season.

Mr. Gianforte's critics are already going after his supposed Russia ties - he holds about $250,000 in funds that include shares in Russian companies.

"The enthusiasm around this race is palpable and the Montana Democratic Party sees a real opportunity to take back the seat that was last held by Pat Williams", Nancy Keenan, executive director of the Montana Democratic Party, said.

Like a similar contest next month in Georgia's 6th Congressional District, a victory for Democrats would be widely interpreted as a stunning setback for the GOP.

"If you don't vote tomorrow, the liberal Democrats running for Congress will decimate and dismantle all that we've done", he said. She characterized her endorsement of Mr. Gianforte as a push for Mr. Trump's agenda, including less spending on welfare, a key issue for her.

In California yesterday, state Democrats apparently elected state party vice chairman Eric Bauman to serve as the new chairman, edging out Kimberly Ellis, a Bernie Sanders supporter from the Bay Area, Ellis, however, has not conceded the race, and has "been in touch with attorneys". And Quist hasn't suffered from lack of money.

The filing deadline has now passed in Alabama for running in Alabama's U.S. Senate special election.

Democrats have put substantial resources into the race to boost Quist, but Republican outside groups have outspent Democrats in the special election. "In the greatest country on earth, people should not have to declare bankruptcy just because they have a health care issue".

"At the end of the day you win or lose". Democrats have reprised ads blasting him for trying to close off public access to a popular fishing spot on his property - a damning attack in a state where open access to public lands is considered a sacred right.

Kulbhushan Jadhav case: Pakistan to change lawyers after ICJ stays execution
India has maintained that Jadhav was abducted from Iran, where he was pursuing his business, and passed off as a spy. The next day, the global court gave Jadhav a lease of life and stayed the death sentence as a provisional measure.

The biggest name that campaigned for Quist was Sen. "You have to be who you are", he added.
