Cleveland police officer who killed Tamir Rice fired after rules violations

The emergency dispatcher was suspended from work for eight days for violating protocol in her handling of the call. They claim that the only rule violated by the officers in the Rice shooting was not notifying communications of their position in the moments prior to the shooting itself.

He had been allowed to resign from another police department instead of being sacked for being emotionally unstable.

The police officer who shot and killed 12-year-old Tamir Rice was sacked Tuesday for inaccuracies on his job application, while the officer who drove the patrol auto the day of the shooting was suspended for violating a tactical rule, Chief Williams announced Tuesday.

Along with the suspension, Garmback will be required to attend additional tactical training.

Officer Timothy Loehmann shot and killed the 12-year-old on November 22, 2014, believing a toy gun he was reaching for was real.

But it emerged that Timothy Loehmann was not fired for the shooting, but after investigators discovered he had lied about his employment history when he applied to become an officer. Rice, shot once in the torso, was not offered first aid by the officers and died the following day.

In 2015, a grand jury decided not to indict either of the officers involved in the shooting, sparking national outrage and protests.

The decision came after what Mayor Frank Jackson called an "exhaustive process" of investigation. He suffers spinal injuries while in police custody, and is denied medical assistance he requested. The Cleveland Police Department did not review Loehmann's personnel file before hiring him in March 2014.

Police have not released further details about the gunshot victim, including his or her age or gender.

The city agreed to pay a $6 million dollar settlement to Rice's family to settle a civil lawsuit in April 2016.

"As satisfying as it is that he was terminated, he was never brought up on charges for killing Tamir Rice", Rice family lawyer Earl Ward toldThe New York Daily News.

While the two teams split the first two matchups, that isn't the case for numerous past rematches. Before the game, James said, "It's just a personal goal of mine".

"They fired him for lying on his application, which I wish they would've fired him for killing Tamir", she said.
