Durant: Warriors set to welcome back their star after knee injury

Kevin Durant made his long-anticipated return from injury against the Pelicans yesterday, scoring 16 points and snatching 10 rebounds for the Warriors as they easily dispatched the Pelicans, winning 123-101.

Making it that much more forgettable was Stephen Curry sitting on the bench in street clothes with a left knee contusion and assorted bumps and bruises from a rough night in Phoenix on Wednesday.

Durant has been sidelined since he sprained the MCL in his knee and suffered a tibia bone bruise February 28 at Washington but Golden State hoped all along to have KD back before the regular season ended - and now the Warriors are riding a 13-game winning streak and have secured the Western Conference's No. 1 seed.

California Lifts Drought State of Emergency
Many Californians rose to the challenge with a almost 25 percent average reduction in urban water use statewide. Officials later ordered mandatory water conservation for the first time in California's state history.

Sans Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins, New Orleans trailed by just 8 points at halftime. If you're a Warriors fan, it was definitely a good thing to see him out there doing his thing without any hindrance of movement or sign of discomfort. However, he credited the training staff. Durant said they did a great job at keeping him sane over the past five weeks.

Curry has appeared in 77 of 79 games this season, averaging 25.3 points and 6.6 assists, while shooting 46.8 percent from the field including 40.8 percent on 3-pointers. Despite athletic performances on defense from Green and Iguodala, the shots just weren't going in.

It was clear in the days and hours before tipoff and just as apparent almost an hour after the final horn Saturday night that Kevin Durant needed this.

After a painful inning, Cardinals' Piscotty is fine
Rosenthal, who is on the 10-day disabled list, is scheduled to throw another one this weekend and could return next week. Sabathia (1-0) limited the team he has faced more than any other to 3 singles and 2 walks in 5 innings.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Warriors are now 14-point home favorites versus the Pelicans, who opened as 13-point underdogs. Durant continued to play in the fourth quarter when the Warriors took a 30 point lead over the Pelicans. He was arguably the team's best player in their first 59 games. "It was time for him to play". The Pelicans hung around as long as they could - two quarters, to be exact - before they suffered the all too familiar fate of most teams at Oracle.

It took a while for Golden State's offense to get going, but when it did, it was a complete takeover. I thought as the game went on he got into a good rhythm... Durant wasn't hesitant with the basketball, looked explosive and immediately attacked New Orleans.

With the win, the Dubs improved to 66-14, and they'll return to action on Monday as they host the Jazz (Find Tickets) in the second-to-last game of the regular season.
